Litho printing

A world of knowledge to achieve colour to a synthetic material which does not absorb ink.

Cristina has customised 2 litho printing machines, a 6 colour one and a 4 colour one, to overcome the problems connected to the print on plastic: from small, considerate scratch-proofing methods to very secret structural modifications. Aside from the technological exasperation and the overcoming of technical limitations, it is a person’s ability that makes the difference with this type of printing.

Plastic is a very difficult material to manage during printing, because, differently from paper, it does not absorb and makes the basic ink formulas “go crazy”. It is therefore necessary to create, in the machine, the correct balance between water and ink, a very delicate alchemy fruit of a deep knowledge of the world of colours: if there is too much water the ink turns out dull, a few drops less and the colour prints where it shouldn’t. To be able to create the correct inks and to keep them well balanced - while combining a high number of variables and parameters - is the key to an excellent print. Cristina knows this, so much that in 40 years of printing, experiments, trials, tests and corrections, it has collected all the ink formulas in a very valuable database which everyday is consulted, looked into, and squeezed to the last drop.
