Foil Blocking

Cristina has also this magical and precious printing technique on its premises.

Internally we produce about 900/1000 sheets per hour. Not many compared to some of our competitors, but it’s the price to be paid for having them perfect. It is a precise and conscientious choice: work at moderate speeds to combine all the variables in the best possible way and to ensure an excellent result coming out of the machine.

Technically, what happens is that appropriately constructed foil dies heated to a temperature of 204 – 207 C° stamp the gold or silver foil on the plastic support through a pressure procedure. Effectively, what happens is that, for each job, one remains astonished in seeing the energy of the gold, the silver or the holographic foil impressed on the plastic as it lights it up with intense mirrored reflections.

What appears to be magic, is in fact the fruit of an expert manual skill; from the preparation of the foil die to the perfect register, from the regulation of the exact temperature to the tension of the foil to eliminate unsightly wrinkles, on up to the adjustment of the proper pressure to stamp the foil homogenously.
